Meeting Report

june 9th, 2007

The June 9th 2007 BRPCG meeting at was held at the Avery Creek Community Center. 24 people were in attendance including several new people. Welcome to all.

The business part of meeting started with a shift in power. Teresa was officially elevated to president of the guild. Sharon Solly was nominated and voted in by those present as vice president/demo coordinator.

The officers announced a new elected position of Event Coordinator. This position will consist of planning clay days, classes with outside instructors, etc. Barbara Verni-Lau has been doing such a great job of this voluntarily we thought she deserved a title

The other change will be that elections will be split. Terms will still be 2 years but will be staggered. One half of the officers will be elected one year. So in 2008 we will elect a president, librarian and secretary. In 2009 we will elect a vice president, treasurer and events coordinator. This is to eliminate having all new officers at one time as has happened in the past.

Please, if you enjoy the guild, consider becoming an officer. We will be having elections in January. We need people to keep thing running. Most importantly without volunteers time and effort there wouldn't be a guild.

We also need a new web mistress. If anyone is good at that and wants to help please contact Teresa.

Barb VL wants to generate more publicity for the guild. Anybody with ideas please let us know.

The challenge for next month is to make something using canes.

We also have a great list of workshops:

Barbara McGuire, June 29th $45.00, Avery Creek community Center

After all that business we had show and tell and introductions all around.

Then came the mermaid swap! What fun!

Following a short break Teresa gave an excellent demo on armatures for sculpture. It's amazing to see what goes into her wonderful creatures. Thank you Teresa for a great demo.

The challenge for next meeting is Sun and Fun.

The demo will be by our new veep Sharon on bead techniques.
