Meeting Report

January 13, 2007

The BRPCG meeting at the Avery Creek Community center had 15 people in attendance. This included members that we haven't seen for a while and several new ones. Welcome to all y'all and Happy New Year.

Tom started the 2nd year of his term as president with business. Teresa tried to implement a new policy about newbies washing the Vice president's (her) car but forgot the bucket and car wash soap. (Some of us have a hard time handling political power.) There was a treasury report by Barbara D. Barbara VL told us about a workshop in conjunction with the Tennessee guild. Marla Frankenberg will be coming in April. Barbara will post more details when the date is confirmed.

Donna Kato has a new web page at http://web.mac.com/donna_kato/iWeb/Site/Home.html with pictures the class in Asheville.

On to show and tell and challenge. There were a couple of us with good intentions of making a snowflake that only brought the rubber stamps and cutters. Barbara VL's show and tell was a coffee mug with a picture of her new beautiful grand baby on it (congrats). Teresa brought one of her amazing winged sculptures. Barb D had a snowman face made from her original mold. Sharon showed snowflake cane bracelets. Pat brought some of her wonderful tiny animals. I know there was more but it's hard to take notes and set up for a demo. Sorry if I left anyone out. Amazing stuff as usual.

After a break we started the demos. Teresa told us about the different clay brands. Tom demonstrated the classic skinner blend. Barbara D. showed mold making using polymer clay. Sharon demonstrated simple canes. Maggie talked about finishing and baking. Thanks to all the demonstrators for their informative talks.

After, we went to socializing, asking and answering questions, and claying. IMHO fun was had by all.

For the February the challenge is making a mold. The demo will be canes by Sharon Solly (a talented new member) so be there.

We are having a Valentine Post card swap. If you want to sign up e-mail me at secretary@brpcg. com with your address by Saturday, January 20th.

Addendum:
I forgot an important news item:

For those of you that have overdue library books or videos and return them by the February meeting (mail or bring)fines are forgiven. It is a one time chance to not have to pay the $2.00 each per month late fee. We really need our books back. If you need to mail them e-mail me at secretary@brpcg. com and I will give you the address.

Remember this amnesty is only for the next meeting.
