Meeting Report

April 14, 2007

BRPCG Meeting held at the Avery Creek Community Center Wow, what a fun packed, busy day.

A very Happy Anniversary/clay day/ auction/meeting! No official head count because it was a clay play day and people were coming and going. My best guess is somewhere between 15 and 18. The group included a surprise visit from our member from Georgia, Ernie, and a very young talented clayer, Pat Smith's delightful granddaughter, Savannah (hope I got the name right).

The morning started with coffee, doughnuts, muffins, ham rolls and demos.

The actual business part of the meeting was short and sweet so we could get back to the fun stuff like bidding on auction items and playing with clay. The major part of the business meeting was Barb VL's announcement of an impressive list of upcoming classes (more info to follow soon).

I have to mention just a few of the items brought for our pot luck lunch. We had Bar-B-Q, Chicken Salsa, Veggie Lasagna, Potato pancake and the list goes on. Yes, we like to eat too. Spread throughout the day were demos, planned and impromptu, that included faux abalone, pen covering, sanding and buffing, painted lentil beads, and faux dichroic glass.

Besides the "big name" items there were many things from our talented and generous members. We had a little bit of everything- jewelry, videos, books, tools, clay and even a couple of ovens. The last minute rush for bids was something to see. People circling the table like hawks with pen in hand fending of the compitition. There were also raffles throughout the day. A couple for a small donation and others just because.

Thanks to all the generous people who donated items and the raffles we made $767.50! Many thanks to BarbVL for suggesting and organizing the auction, raffles and demos.

So the day went something like this: Eat, clay, eat, buy, clay some more.

And you guessed it: IMHO fun was had by all.
