The meeting was held at the Avery Creek Community Center June 10, 2006. There were 12 people in attendance including 1 guest. Tom started the meeting with business reminding us about the library exhibit for October and the call by the National Polymer Clay Guild for host guilds for the 2007 convention. Irene is asking for a substitute photographer for meetings she can't make. (Volunteers?) Barb VL told us about a clay convention in Las Vegas in December and one in February in Florida that Donna Kato mentioned in her class.
Show and tell was next. Great stuff, as usual. Things from the Kato class drew many compliments and even inspired some to immediately use the foils that Rose so generously shared with us.
Barb D did a well-informed demo about color, showing us her clay color wheel, tossing around words like "tertiary" and handing out a list of color mixing web sites. Irene explained how she cuts and mixes colors to make her custom color palette. So many colors to make, so little time. Thanks to both.
Challenge for the July is Stars and Stripes. Suzanne is scheduled to give us her "Super Demo".

Also Maggie showed her wonderful new Makins extruder! I had seen it online, but hadn't seen in person just how easily it worked (and it's self-cleaning!). I went home and ordered one ($19.50) from The Clay Alley, and it's on its way! :) The thing comes with 20 discs, and there are 2 new sets of 10 discs each coming out (available in July). One addition to the minutes is- Guild members talked about going to Barbara McGuire's studio in Atlanta (really Buford) for a class on Mokume Gane and PMC to make a necklace. Some wanted to spend the night. I think we can accomodate both the one day people and the overnighters.
