Meeting Report

January 14, 2006

The meeting was held at the Avery Creek Community Center January 14, 2006. There were 19 people in attendance including 9 guests. Of the 9 newcomers 3 became members. Welcome to all.

Irene started the meeting with business and officer "elections".
Tom - president.
Teresa Haynes – vice president, demo coordinator.
Barbara D. – treasurer
Maggie (me) – secretary
Gail has agreed to be librarian until she can find a replacement.

Show and tell was next. We got a look at some of the post cards from the swap.

Kay spoke on the benefits of membership.

After a short break the rest of the meeting was a jam-packed A-Z of polymer clay.

Irene did an introduction to Polymer Clay
Teresa talked about different brands and their properties.
Irene - Conditioning clay, mixing colors, marbling colors, storage
Kay - baking, safety and cleanup
Maggie - Tools
Barbara - Rubber stamps and textures
Irene - molds, using and making
Teresa - Mica powders
Irene - Glues
Kay - Varnishes, Sanding and buffing
Irene - Simple caneworking
Tom - Skinner blend, canes with blend
Irene - Texture and paint = antiquing, faux natural materials
Kay - Transfers

Whew! What a lot of stuff for such a short time. Thanks to all the demonstrators. Great Job.

Challenge for the month is to mix your own color, bring the color and your formula to the next meeting. Next month's meeting is on color.
