Meeting Report

June 11, 2005

This month we had 14 people in attendance, and welcomed one visitor.

Pat started the meeting with business reminding us that our pieces are needed for the library exhibit. Send your best to Gail or bring it to the next meeting.

Barbara VL and Claudia kindly agreed to host our August 27th clay day. Thanks so much! They did such a great job with the last one.

We are going to have to decide what to do about the August 13th meeting because we will not be able to use our regular place. Several things were suggested. The favorite is a field trip: meeting to eat lunch and doing some kind of tour of galleries, studios, shops etc. If you have any other good ideas or would like to help organize the field trip, please post and let us know.

Our web page member's gallery needs pictures of your art. Just bring your stuff to a meeting to be photographed.

The workshop committee has a class opportunity with Dayle Doroshow for May 2006. Dayle's work can be at www.dayledoroshow.com.

Show and tell with "metallics" challenge was next. As always, many oohs and aahs.

The Mokume Gane demo's started with Marilyn's tinted translucents with silver leaf and "peas" to make hills and valleys. Maggie (me) showed how to use plastic needlepoint canvas to make an interesting design. Kay demonstrated using metallic and black clays and tools from her husband's workbench. All pretty neat! Of course, we had to try out some of these methods right away. A good time was had by all.

Next month's challenge is Ocean/Beach.
