September 11, 2004
The September meeting was held at the Avery Creek Community Center.
We had quite a nice turn out. In attendance were:
Pat, Irene, Nancy, Teresa, Karen Hagen, Edie, Kay, Maggie, Suzanne, Marilyn, Claudia Starkovich, Ann Bourgeois, Marion and her guest Lorain Roberts, Laurie and Dean Prevette, Barbara Stock, Barbara Dolcimascolo, and Barb Verni-Lau.
Pat started with business:
We discussed the bead jar and decided it will be a “just for fun” thing instead of a fund raiser. The more beads you donate the more chances you have to win the whole jar at our Anniversary party in April. (Our one lonely bead is not alone any more thanks to donations from the swap/challenge participants.)
The challenge for October is masks. The masks can be life size, miniature, just however you interpret this theme.
Clay day is on for October 30th at the Avery Creek Community Center. Cost: $10 per person. More info on the home page.
We are seeking donations for the raffle - if you have some finished polymer clay work, tools, materials, videos, books, etc., that you'd like to donate, please bring it to the next meeting or Clay Day in the morning. Proceeds from the raffle will help fund future Clay Days.
We had our first sales table with 10% of the sales going to the guild. It was fun and successful. Don’t forget to bring items marked with your name and a price next month.
Then we had show and tell and challenge.
Thanks to Pat for organizing the imitative bead swap.
And on to the demos.
Nancy showed us faux copper verdigris.
Maggie – faux raku.
Suzanne showed her clay painting technique. Making a darling pansy clock.
Pat talked about using molds to add ornamentation to surfaces.
Irene demonstrated her imitative wood technique and how to cover a cd and turn it into a clock.
We then proceeded to work on our own clocks and socialize.
If anyone that was working on clocks would like to bring them to the next meeting we would love to see them.
