Pat opened the meeting with a reminder that the Donna Kato workshop is this weekend in Raleigh. Maggie and Jan are attending and hopefully with give us all the details at the next meeting. Pat said that Donna apologised for all the mix up with our workshop and we may try to reschedule her later in the year.
The Challenge for July is small art dolls or pins.
Gail has a catalogue of books from Krause and if we order 5 books (as a group) we get a 40% discount. Please visit www.krause.com and let Gail know if there are any books you would like to see in our library or email to the list.
Barbara will not be able to do the Demo – Jewelry Assembly. Jan may do picture transfers. If anyone would like to volunteer to do a demo contact Pat or Irene.
We shared our Challenge for this month – Postage Stamps. All were very interesting.
Margaret has an illness that will be preventing her from working with polymer clay, so she brought all her "stuff" to sell and many of us got some big bargains.
Next were discussions and demonstrations of various types of book marks, our topic for today. Suzanne showed us her bookmarks of transparent clay on ribbon and ones with flower cane slices. All with a grommet at the top with a tassel. Pat showed us a cane slice attached to the top of a large paper clip and one with a little old man's head. Very cute.
Suzanne demonstrated making a cane using cookie cutters. A very easy fast method with very little wasted clay. Everyone who wore his or her nametag was put into a drawing for a door prize and Pat won a block of Kato clay. Lucky Pat!
More mini demos with Irene showing us mokume gane with a blue skinner blend and black clay to put on a bookmark. Gail used a texture sheet and pearl ex. Then Irene showed us the spiral lentil bead. And lastly Suzanne sat at the table drinking gin. HaHa....no she used it to show us the gin photo transfer. Many jokes flowed back and forth.
The meeting broke up a little early at about 3:30.
Respectfully submitted,
