Meeting Report

March 13, 2004

In attendance:

Maggie, Margaret, Pat, Suzanne, Gail, Gail's sister-in-law (whose name I can't spell), Marion, Nancy, Marilyn, Ellen, Faye, Eleanor, Teresa H., Karen H.. Eleanor also brought a guest, Carolyn.

Pat told us about EOPC conference (Evolution of Polymer Clay) to be held in San Diego in August. You can get more info at www.npcg.org/eopc/. Irene is the only member known to be going.

April 24th is our next "clay day". Maggie announced that we need a head count because if we have lots of interest, we might need to hire a bigger room. And that requires a little lead time. She will be sending out an outline soon. Sounds like it will be lots of fun for all. Be sure to put it on your calendar.

The regular April meeting is the Saturday before Easter. We will be making nametags at this meeting. It is our 5th birthday ladies. Marion is organizing the party. Several people volunteered to bring some celebratory eats. If you can help, give her a holler.

The April meeting is also a swap and sell meeting. Bring your stuff and trade for something you like better!

Also, we will draw the name of the new owner of the bead jar.

The challenge for the April meeting is gardening.

Several people contributed to the "faces" challenge. Maggie's first face cane was really great.
Challenge photos here.

Show and tell included Gail's new felted wool beads combined in a necklace with some polymer beads. Nancy had a serendipitous event when she burned some faux ivory and would now love to duplicate it. Looked like fossilized wood. Suzanne has figured out how to remove the hologram coating from compact discs and is using it like a foil on polymer. Nancy and I think it looks a lot like abalone. I don't mean to slight any other "show and tell", just can't remember and I was too busy lookin' to take good notes.

Suzanne gave us a demo of her clay painting technique, starting with a photo, transferring the photo to a gesso hard board using a grid method and then applying clay. Marilyn and Marion and Maggie had a good start on their pieces by the time we left. Great demo Suzanne. Thanks!

Thanks all folks. Still looking for a bigger room for our meetings. Send me any ideas, please.
