Meeting Report

December 13, 2003

We had a great meeting in December. We missed those who couldn't be there, but everyone understands how busy the holiday season can be! We had a brief business meeting so that we could get down to the serious business of making ornaments and having fun.

We reviewed the list of nominees for officers for the 2004-5 term. Here they are:
President, Pat Smith
Irene, Vice President/Demo Coordinator
Kay, Treasurer
Barbara, Secretary
Gail, Librarian
Irene, Webmistress

We also discussed the fish swap. A reminder: 14 fish beads are due from each swapper at or before the January meeting! If you can't be at the meeting in January, please e-mail swapmistress Gail Jolley and get her home address to mail them to her. Also, it would be great to make an extra fish bead for the guild bead jar (bring $1).*

*Explanation for new members: You may contribute $1 and a put a bead and your name in the guild's bead jar any time you want. At the guild's anniversary meeting in April, we'll take final bead jar entries and draw from the names in the jar. The winner takes all the beads. The guild keeps the money to use for future events. Maggie won the beads in April 2003 and we were all envious.

We were joined by several prospective new members in December and all had a good time getting acquainted. Sandra Fairbanks, Judy Geary, Barb Applebaum, Faye Muse, and Laura Lane all attended for the first time. We look forward to seeing you again soon! (My apologies to anyone whose name I misspelled.)

For your 2004 calendar:

January meeting: This will be a "fundamentals" meeting--reviewing some basics--a great idea for newbies and oldtimers alike. The challenge for January is guess what--fish! Whether or not you're in the swap, you can get in the swim for the challenge.

Grovewood open house: This annual event will be held July 3, 2004. The guild plans to participate again. If we start thinking about it early, we can make it more fun and successful than ever.

Hope to see everyone in January!
