Meeting Report

April 12, 2003

In attendance: Suzanne, Kay, Irene, Marilyn, Eddie, Maggie, Lynda, Marian, Nancy, Kelli and Kathy. (My apologies if I forgot someone)

We welcomed two new members to our guild: Nancy Bruce from Landrum, SC and Kelli Large from Charlotte, NC. Both ladies are very talented and will offer a lot to our talented guild. We sure are glad to have them.

What a great Birthday party we all had. Thanks to Kathy Wu who brought a home made birthday cake with our BRPCG Logo decorate on the top of the cake. Kathy was unable to stay for the whole meeting but it sure was nice of her to drop by and bring such a lovely cake for all of us to enjoy! Thanks Kathy!!! Eddie handed out beautiful pins to everyone. They were made out of PC, of course, in the shape of the number 4 with BRPC stamped on them. What a great idea and a nice thing to do for everyone. Thanks Eddie!! And of course we all got chocolate Lady Bugs from Maggie. Who by the way, did not attach all of those little feet. Thanks Maggie!!

The meeting started with lots of food to eat. Everyone bought something and we still have plenty of leftovers. Thanks to everyone who bought something. Not to mention the lovely creations everyone made to celebrate our 4th year. It was hard to settle down to business.

There was a lot of discussion about the upcoming class. May 29th is the deadline for whoever has signed up to have their class fee paid in full. If for some reason someone has to cancel 3 weeks or more in advance they will receive a 50% refund of their class fee. If there is a cancellation 2 weeks or less before the class there will be no refund of money. Up coming class flyers were passed out at the meeting as well. Kay is taking care of the rental contract for June’s class. Irene is posting the class info to different polymer clay guilds as well as seeing if she can put up a class flyer at Chevron. Kathy Wu will put up a class flyer in the library. We also discussed how to set up the classroom and what we would do about meals.

Chevron’s demo day seems to be a thing of the past. Edie and Maggie have tried several times to contact Deborah and she has not returned any of the calls.

BRPCG’s bead board is getting underway. We are still looking for members to donate beads (with brief description of how the bead was made) to put on our display.

Sue Dial will take over the bead jar for the 2003 – 2004 season. Maggie was the winner of the bead jar. Way to go Maggie! It was suggested that in the future you could enter to win by paying $2.00 or paying $1.00 and donating a bead. Not sure where that ended up.

We also discussed putting up a display in the library for the month of August.

Then the crazy fun began. Talk about putting your creative energies to work in a short period. We each received a tile and had ten minutes to start a creation. The timer rang and we had to stop, although some of us snuck in a few more seconds to create, and then we had to pass the tile to the person sitting on our left. Each tile was passed around one time until it ended up at the person who started. It was a hoot. We all couldn’t imagine what Irene would have done with some of the creations. I was very amazed at how the creations changed with each member working on it for the ten minutes. Hopefully some of the before pictures will turn out. I will try to get my pictures developed before the next meeting. I think I was the only one who took pictures during the creation part.

Well, that’s it for now. Remember while reading these minutes that we need someone to volunteer to take minutes at the next meeting. If all of us take a turn, I think we can get through not having a secretary for this year. Happy claying!!
