MEETING REPORTS

March 9, 2002

Scheduled demo was delayed until another time due to illness.

Questions brought up:

Are we non-profit? No

Do we need to become non-profit? Probably not until we are making a lot more money.

Auctions-would have to report on taxes if a single contributor is over a certain amount

Numerous questions on sales taxes - so far our only sales have been at shows where the individuals have handled their own sales tax.

Other discussions and information:

We have a free ad in Mountain Xpress that is now being run periodically rather than every week due to space limitations.

We discussed who would send out mid-month reminders. Suzanne is going to do that since she is also sending out demo information at the same time.

We discussed the need for an officers meeting.

List of membership for this year...we currently have a list that was circulated for last year, and Kay is putting together the list of paid members.

In the minutes we aren't putting detailed instructions (y'all have to come to a meeting for that!), just the general business information, etc.

Carol Duval's schedule is on HGTV.com, although there was some question about the accuracy of the listing. She has great polymer clay demos from time to time.

Tip of the month: Edie: mix silver with white pearl to create a much nicer silver.

Jan's idea: could we each e-mail a tip during the middle of the month to the mailing list?

Gail asked about lending oven to a library doing a polymer clay day with the kids. It would be without our supervision, so for liability reasons we had to vote no.

Gail asked about how to organize library purchases and was referred to the PCGuild e-mail list for guild business/officers.

Suzanne had a great interest survey for all those who attended. It asked about what we were interested in as well as what we thought our strengths were.

Three books were mentioned as possible purchases:
Images on Clay, Stamping Polymer Clay & Wire Designs, Classy Clay with Rubber Stamps and Wire They will be purchased.

A book catalog was circulated. We have most of the good books out of it, but people are encouraged to make their own purchases and we will get a discount if enough books are ordered. (Gail, correct me if I'm wrong on the details of that!)

We are holding off on more book/video purchases until we can come up with a structure for the purchasing.

We then had a great display of our neon color projects. Lots of great stuff...check the website for more details. (Here are photos.)

Donna Kato has a new clay out and (I forget who...I'm sorry!...missed that) someone had some samples. It's available from Prairie Craft.

Next month: a sales month
Project: the most unusual/bizarre/strange thing you've ever made out of polymer clay (for example, I made some markers for knitting needles once!)

Great meeting!

See y'all next month!
