MEETING REPORTS

June 8, 2002

June meeting was a little better attended. There was the usual lively conversation, exchange of tips and some show and tell. Suzanne brought some cute little pc flip flops, I showed a bead imbedded with glass beadz(?) and Byrd showed us some bracelet watches, her tiles for the sign and some neat game pieces. The sign is almost finished. There were a few gaps but people promised to make tiles and mail them in time.

Someone asked me about parking and this is what Gail had written earlier:
"Rankin Parking Lot is immediately behind EarthGuild. There is access from within the Rankin St. Lot through to Haywood St. so that you don't have to walk around the long way."

Since I have been dropped off myself I didn't know the name of the street to access this lot. Hope this helps.

We firmed up the commitments for Grovewood. We have a booth setup loaned by Kathy Wu and Pat Pettyjohn. Others of us have volunteered to bring various things.

To remind all about the show:
Grovewood in Asheville is having an open house and craft show July 6 from 10 to 6, 111 Grovewood Rd. (behind Grovepark Inn)

It's a great opportunity to show polymer clay as an art form and promote the guild.

There are going to be some very impressive groups there. Live music too.

Some of us will be there starting at 8 for booth setup. We could still use volunteers for all shifts. Edie is keeping the schedule so contact her if you can come.

If you want to sell there are some things to keep in mind:

- Label your items with your 3 initials, an inventory # and price. Make an inventory list in duplicate. Send one with your work and keep one.

- The gallery is receiving 15%, the Guild 10% with the remainder going to the artist. Keep this in mind when pricing your work.

- Sales tax will be added and returned to each person. It will be your responsibility to send it in.

If you can't come but still want to participate your work must be mailed or dropped off to Edie Siegel in time for her to get it to the show.

We have small bags and tissue paper. If any of your work needs boxes or special packaging please provide it.

Hope to see ya'll there. Or at least at next months meeting, July 13 at Earth Guild, if you can't.

Next month's challenge will be to make something to go with a favorite piece of clothing and wear both.

If I left anything out please feel free to add..
