MEETING REPORTS

 Hello, everyone!

Sorry this is a bit later than I intended....but life got in the way. But here's what happened Saturday:

Our wonderful now ex-president Irene called the meeting to order and got us underway voting for the new officers for the next two years. As everyone was running unopposed, it was more formality than anything else. Our new officers are:

Maggie and Edie: Co-Presidents
Suzanne: Demo Coordinator
Kay: Treasurer
Gail: Librarian
Kathy: Secretary

Other news:

Grovewood Gallery has again invited us to take part in their open house on July 6th from 10-7pm. We will need volunteers to help run the booth and organize our part. We will also need people willing to demonstrate polymer clay.

Each person selling their work will receive 75% of the retail price, with 15% going to Grovewood and 10% going to the Guild. Grovewood receives either $250 for the fee or 15%, whichever is lesser.

Kathy volunteered to bring her canopy and tables.

-----

We also discussed getting an out of the area teacher. Suzanne will be asking individuals to seek out teachers and get information for us...so if anyone knows of a teacher, please talk to Suzanne to find out what we need to know. Suzanne will also be doing a questionnaire for all of us to complete about demos...what we can do as well as what we would like to see.

Irene suggested that one "demo" be taking pictures of our work. Several of us have digital cameras so we could choose a meeting to bring in our work for photos.

New members:
We have two new members. Wecome to Marci and Karen!

Show and Tell
Monthly Challenge - Hats
The most marvelous hat ornaments and hats themselves were brought in. Photos were taken so please click the link and check them out. They included: ornaments tinted with TLS that had been made by transfering xerox copies of dogs, a headband with glow in the dark antennae, realistic flowers, cute easter beads, a hat out of all clay with canes, animal print beads with reeds, and an ancient looking pin out of old sculpey, valentine hat with heart shaped polymer pins, and a very elegant, simple geometric design with interference colors. Other cool show and tell items included some really gorgeous glass and polymer bead necklaces.

The tip of the day (from Karen): Use fabric to create a small pounce for cornstarch or powder for applying it to clay.

------

The demos were very interesting, featuring techniques of using t-shirt transfers, photocopies as transfers, and ink-jet tattoo transfers. (See pics below.)

Question from the secretary: I can give more notes that I took during the demos, but since some people earn money teaching, I hesitate to give out this information without permission. So for this meeting I won't, but I'd like to see this discussed either online or at the next meeting. I'll ask about it at the meeting.

--------

We had a large group this meeting, about 17 people.

--------

Next month's challenge: Make something using bright, neon colors.

See everyone next month!

Irene used the guild logo to demonstrate transfers with t-shirt transfer paper.

Gail provided a variety of Dover designs for photocopy transfers.
Some people colored their image with colored pencils.

Suzanne brought castles printed onto tattoo paper so we could all try one.
