MEETING REPORTS

April 13, 2002

The new location worked well. We had lots of discussion about where we would meet next. We voted and chose Earth Guild since we can keep our usual Saturday. So May 11th we will meet at Earth Guild. There is a city parking lot just behind Earth Guild that is usually only $1.00 on weekends. If I'm remembering correctly, it's the Rankin Ave. parking lot that is the closest to the store. The Civic Center is a bit further away, but either do work.

Next month's challenge is to create a tile for our sign that will be used at craft fairs and the like. Instructions have already been posted. We discussed the sign extensively at the meeting, deciding color and basic design ideas. Irene had a great concept based on our logo. I'm doing the lettering and will demo that at the next meeting.

We had a visitor from the Sevierville group. I meant to get her name and missed it. Sorry! (from Suzanne - her name is Linda Livaudais.)

Maggie has also been in contact with a possible teacher who does some interesting tapestry techniques and she had some information about her. We discussed the cost and decided that we still need to know more about her classes before going any further.

Our website is now separate from Irene's. The cost is minimal. Thank you, Irene, for all your work on that!

Forms can still be turned into Suzanne if you haven't. If you are interested in doing a demo, please let her know.

Ideas for other challenges were presented: an exchange of odd items to see what we'd each do with them or what can be done with damaged goods.

Irene had a great sanding tip.

Jan gave an excellent demo on her watches. For those who weren't there, you missed lots of cool beads and a great technique for using polymer beads with a watch.

There are some new books in the library:
Images on Clay
36 Millefiori (sp?) Clay

(Gail...there was another...I didn't get all the names...if you haven't posted them could you e-mail me?: Thanks!)

Hope to see everyone in May!

The temporary meeting space was very nice.

Suzanne and Marilyn, both concentrating hard!

Jan handled a bead-and-finding buying frenzy with remarkable calm.
