We had a great group of people last Saturday including many new faces. Thanks for visiting us and we hope you come back again: Laura Facciponti Some new people from our July meeting came back for this one, and we were very glad to see them again. We didn't have much business to
discuss before the presentation. Suzanne Ivester donated an audiotape
to our library on "Be a Dynamic Craft Seller." No one
checked it out at this meeting, but Kathy Wu wants dibs on it
for next month (after she returns the magazines). Keep this tape
in mind if you are interested in selling your work but don't
know how to go about it or even if you are already selling your
work and feel like you Kathy Wu was still hoping to have
the picnic on Aug. 25, but if there not many people can make
it this month, she is considering postponing it for a better
point in time. The suggestion came up that she should have it
on a Sunday after a meeting so that people who have to drive
a distance could simply spend the night and not have to make
another trip. Another suggestion came up that we make it a combination
cookout and switchplate After that we went on to Sara Jane's comprehensive presentation on the pros and cons of the different types of polymer clay, and Pat Smith gave us a good demonstration on how to condition Fimo. We got into such a good discussion on those topics that we didn't get started on our switchplate project until nearly 2pm! But nearly everyone got to get their hands on some clay. Sara Jane started out by showing us how to make a Skinner blend, and we used that blend to cover our switchplates. By 4pm we were still baking switchplates, and everyone was thrilled with the results. We missed those members who weren't able to make it to the meeting, but we could feel that you were there with us in spirit. See you next month. submitted by Gail Jolley, August 12, 2001 |
