http://www.riverpoetdesign.com/ • The Dan Cormier Workshop "Building Better Beads" sponsored by our guild and held at the Leicester Community Center was a great success. Thanks to all those who helped arrange this on such short notice and who helped see it through. The class was wonderful and we met many new people from other guilds in surrounding states. Do I hear "Retreat" in the future? If you ever get a chance to take a class from Dan and/or Tracy, you won't be disappointed as it is a fun packed class and you really do get things accomplished. You could possibly be seeing examples of their teaching at our April play day from some of the members who attended the workshop. Some of the members are in information overload and also sleep deprived as they went on a marathon of classes starting at Barbara McGuire's studio in Georgia, taking "A Day at the Beach" with Tracy Holmes, then to a demo of another class taught by Dan called "Beyond the Blend". Then two days of The Cutting Edge" in Tucker, Ga. and then back to Leicester for "Building Better Beads". Our guild members made us proud as they showed off items they wore made by other members. Julie Eakes' Obama Cane was definately a hit, people wanted to take photos with him.
• Congratulations Suzanne Ivester! Suzanne is a long standing member and has been elected the President of the National Polymer Clay guild. (I am asking for a cushy cabinet position with a nice window in my office.) Seriously, congratulations to Suzanne and let us all show our support for the National Polymer Clay guild.
Workshops Our Building Better Beads class has ended but if you have ideas for other classes let us know and we will see what we can put together. Check often for updates. It is proposed that for our March Meeting we bring in any canes we are tired of and trade with someone else for some of their canes. Don't forget your canes. 2009 Clay Days - April 11 and Oct 10 Clay Days are now free days for paid members and first time visitors. All others will need to pay a $3 charge (we gotta pay rent you know?) Come for the morning or the afternoon, or stay and clay all day long, whether you're a member or not. Bring your clay and tools and any related materials. The oven will be running all day for your creating pleasure. This is a perfect opportunity to: | |
